When you click into a Layout, AutoCAD usually auto-generates a viewport for you. It’s that black rectangle blocking your view. Double-click inside that rectangle. See the crosshair get fatter? You just jumped back into Model Space while standing in Paper Space. You can pan around, but don't zoom—you'll mess up the scale. Double-click outside the rectangle. Crosshairs get skinny. You're back in Paper Space. Scaling the Beast Here’s where rookies drown. You need that 100-foot building to fit on a 24x36 sheet at 1/8" = 1'-0". 1.
